DAKOTA RESTORATION - Merville Barracks, Colchester

The Douglas C-47 Dakota, one of the world's most famous military transport aircraft, saw widespread use during World War Two and support is now required for a
wartime Dakota which is being restored by ex Sgt Jim Kilbride at Merville Barracks, Colchester. Jim has been hard at work on the restoration project for several
years battling with the problems of obtaining the necessary replacement equipment and securing funds to cover the costs. Externally the aircraft is looking good,
the long awaited tail planes are being fitted, but the undercarriage needs attention and there are still many problems to be resolved before the work is completed.
If you live in Colchester, and would like to help
maintain the Dakota please click here to email Jim.
